Caroline nursery update

>> June 14, 2012

Since I first posted "final" shots of Caroline's Nursery, I have actually made a few changes. But I never really told you about those, did I?

Obviously, I changed up the bedding and removed all the "life threatening" bumpers. So now we have the ugly, but safe (!), breathable ones.

So what else changed? Well, so glad you asked...

Remember the "poufs" from Caroline's Baptism Party set-up?

Well those got a new lease on life. They looked great over the table and I thought they would look super fun in Caroline's room. She loves looking at the poufs. I carry her over to each pouf every day, and she touches them so very carefully. Meanwhile, I am trying to teach her the word "pink".

The wall was blank and empty before, but I think the poufs fill out the space nicely. I probably could have even used one or two more poufs, if I wanted to really layer them for a more dramatic effect. But I used what I had. Plus, the colors matched her room so perfectly. It's like I planned  it. (I sort of did.)
Those two baskets hold toys, so all around, this is just a fun little corner of her room.
But oh - what else is new? Caroline finally has some "real art" in her room. We don't have any original pieces anywhere in our house, with the exception of this one right here. She's one special little lady, I'd say.
A good friend from college painted this especially for Caroline, when she learned I was pregnant. I sent her swatches of the nursery bedding fabric, and she went to work, whipping up a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. I love the movement, and all the colors. When I saw this painting, I knew it was "it". The colors match, it's youthful, there is great layering of shapes, and I think it will grow right along with my little girl.
My friend Christina painted a bunch of samples, and let me pick (!) which one I liked best. Well, I love it. Remember how much trouble I had finding some art I that really spoke to me? Well, I couldn't be more thrilled with how things turned out.

Christina paints on the side (for fun), but you can also buy her work if you are interested! Here is her site, definitely check out her stuff. The one I ended up picking, you can still see on her website, it's called "Spring 1" - I think the name along is a good choice.
The best part of the painting? You can see it perfectly from Caroline's crib. Maybe it will help Caroline become super cultured and a lover of fine works of art. Perhaps?
So those are the most recent updates to Caroline's room. I have finally filled all the wall space, and the room seems "complete"...for now!
