Dear Ikea, love you!

>> October 13, 2011

Remember when Ikea and I had a bit of a falling out over their Songe mirror? No? Well, here's how it all went down. When I found out I was having a girl, this inspiration photo really jumped out at me.

And, being the ambitious girl I am, had more or less designed Caroline's entire nursery around the idea of a leaner mirror behind the crib.
Granted, I am sure the above mirror cost an absolute fortune! My version of the leaner mirror, from Ikea, was much more reasonable. But once I decided this was going to be my nursery "plan" and I actually went to go pick out the mirror, well it turned out that Ikea was having a bit of an issue with their stock. The Songe mirror was all sold out. Since January!

Being a dangerous combination of both pregnant and stubborn, I obsessed over this mirror. Why is it out of stock? Can I find it at another Ikea (even if that Ikea is located in New Jersey)? Can you tell me when it will be back in stock? Don't you realize that my baby is due in June?!? Where will I find another fabulous mirror at that price? No, that other mirror isn't big enough! But Daddy I want an oompa loopa NOW! (oh...sorry, I got my melodramatic scenes mixed up.)

But you get the idea. So Caroline arrived, I unveiled the nursery - and still no mirror. I continued to check the "stock prognosis" online once a week.

But then, a miracle! Ikea, as if to answer my prayers, restocked the mirror. And all was right in the world.

And when we unpacked that beauty, and set it in its rightful spot, well, it was the perfect fit.

The room finally feels more complete and a bit cozier, thanks to this addition.

It was totally worth the wait. But Ikea, don't ever do that to me again.

Kisses!
Shannon

So apparently patience pays off eh? I have none so I wouldn't know! But seriously, she will adore having the mirror there. Why are babies so obsessed with themselves? Now I'm kind of thinking that maybe a mirror next to the crib might make Gabe want to stay and hang out there awhile instead of fussing right away...Hmmm...
