Favorites on Friday: Pregger products
>> January 28, 2011
So I know I said I wouldn't make this a baby blog (and I still plan to honor that promise!), but so many blogs out there do helpful posts, talking about their favorite baby products. I have found these posts to be so valuable as I navigate this new experience and start to think about a registry.
But since I don't have a baby yet, I thought I would do a Favorites on Friday post about my favorite things I've discovered during the first half of my pregnancy. Maybe someone will find this helpful too?
2. Be Maternity Ruched Tank. I have this tank in both black and white. And let me tell you - they are fantastic! They help extend the life of your just-slightly-too-short non-maternity sweaters, and they help smooth out any ill-fitting pants. Plus they are super comfy. Who needs more than that?
3. Ginger Snaps. I never felt ill during the beginnings of my pregnancy, but I sure was hungry all the time! Ginger naturally settles your stomach, and was great at helping satisfy my moments of starvation. So it's a great 2-for-1 snack.
4. Bella Band from Ingrid and Isabel. This was truly a life saver at the beginning stages - before you can fit into pregnancy pants. The Bella Band is great at extending the life of your normal work pants. Even at almost 20 weeks along, I still use my band regularly. It's saved me tons of money in work clothes.
5. Burt's Bees Mama Bee Oil. I am petrified of getting stretch marks. I am trying everything high and low to prevent those nasty lines. This oil smells like freshly cut lemons and doesn't leave an oily residue. So here's hoping it does the job! Either way, it's not too expensive, so it's worth a try.
6. 40 Weeks Pregnancy Organizer. I haven't read a lot of pregnancy-related books (partially because they kinda scare me, I don't need to know the details), but this organizer is right up my alley. It contains one place to keep track of doctor appointments, questions for your OB, items on your registry, meal tracker, weight gain tracker, common questions for interviewing OBs/pediatricians/child care/insurance company, along with a lot of other really helpful lists. It's been so helpful in guiding me through this process and providing direction to someone who is totally new to this whole experience! This would be a great gift for anyone who is recently preggers.
7. My gym membership. When you get pregnant, all of a sudden you're not allowed to do anything fun. I recently got kicked out of my favorite Yoga-lates class, not to mention staying away from tuna, wine {obviously, but still, boooo}, lunch meat, paint - and a whole bunch of other things. Thankfully, I can still go to the gym, stay active, and maintain some sense of normalcy. Without hitting up the gym a few times a week, I would be going insane.
I know there are plenty of new moms out there, so if I've missed any of your favorite pregnancy products - please share them in the comments. I still have 20 weeks left, so I am all for hearing about your favorites! Happy Friday friends!
{p.s. I've been at 49 followers for awhile now - who's going to be the 50th official follower?? Come on, I know you're out there!}
None of the companies above know I exist and I wasn't perked for this post. I just thought these were pretty cool and very helpful while being preggers, so I thought maybe you would find it helpful too!

Hi Shannon,
Congrats on your pregnancy! How exciting!!!
You can count me as loyal reader #50. I've been reading pretty consistently since I've been out on maternity leave.
My favorite pregnancy item was a black wrap dress from the Gap. Wore this every single week with different accessories.

Hope the rest of your weeks fly by!
Best,
Leah
Shannon, I swear by Mustela products! And while it wouldn't have been the end of the world, I received zero stretch marks with my 9+ lb baby boy!

One of my best friends just found out she is preg (ssshhh!! :) so I'm gonna forward her this link. When she asked me what I recommended, I gave her a blank look. I can't remember anything at this point!
Oh well, a book I liked was Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy. Besides the overuse of the word "girlfriend" it was pretty laidback, funny and real.
@Leah - thanks for the link to the dress! This would work perfectly at my office too. I have a few non maternity wrap dresses that have served me well so far...but for how long, we'll see.
@jjdr - Thanks for the tip! I will have to check that out too!
@Shannon - so glad this could be helpful! I promise I won't spill your secret!
