A bit cuter...

Hope everyone had a really great holiday weekend! We had a really great, but busy weekend! We started and {almost} finished one BIG project, that I am hoping will be blog worthy later this week.
But we also went to visit Hubby's parents to celebrate the holiday and watch some fireworks.
Riley loves car rides, and definitely prefers hanging out in the front seat with me. She's all buckled in. (Remember kids - safety first.) Riley's a bit of a seat hog though, so I often end up one-cheekin' it the whole two hour trip. Here's Riley keeping an eye on dad's driving. (Actually I think we just opened the sun roof - she loves watching the sun roof open). On a side note, I almost didn't show this photo. I was worried it was a little too boobalicious for the blog, but I figured it's mostly chicks here anyways, right? Plus - you're supposed to be looking at the dog.
Anyways. Now onto the main subject of my post.
This past week our little house got a little bit cuter. We got a new roof.
So here's how the front of the house used to look. Isn't the green roof lovely?? And the way the titles are splitting and pulling up in the corners! Oooh, we were quite the sight! Plus the mossy green coordinates so well with the yellow house.
Despite our attempts to unify the look of our house by painting our door black (it was white when we purchased the home), painting our front steps, and adding black potted urns - the light green roof was not working. And this week we finally fixed that part too.
Much better.
We used CertainTeed roofing in Moire Black, which is really more of a charcoal gray. It was exactly the look we were going for. Now the roof really matches our shutters and door so much better.
We still have plans to change out the mailbox (which doesn't fit any of my fashion and decor magazines), get new light fixtures that coordinate with our "look", new house numbers (which I blurred out for this photo), and change out the screen door for one that shows a bit more of the front door.
When we moved in the house looked a bit ragged (which worked to our advantage in purchasing), but it really made me feel like our house was the red headed step child of the neighborhood. But with the new roof, revived steps, and the new landscaping, I think our little cape is finally starting to fit in.
